Are You A Multi-Tasker?

When out walking my dog today,  I realised that I have only one gear and that is fast forward!  I had to make myself walk slowly!  I have noticed this before that I really do have to force myself to walk slowly.

I know I am out to exercise both my dog and myself but rushing about and missing the beautiful sights of nature is not a good idea.

So today I actually sat down twice!  I sat on a tree stump and then sat on a seat that had been placed halfway up a hill.  The seat was actually on a little hill itself and a tad too high for me, but I managed to perch on it.

Are you like this? Do you rush about at one hundred miles an hour?

Do you eat your breakfast while driving and hope for red traffic lights so that you can put your make-up on?

Do you sit on a train, whilst eating a sandwich and reading a book and look to see what all your Facebook friends are up to?

Do you cook your dinner, make a cup of tea and feed the budgie, all at the same time?

Are you a multi-tasker?

Multi-tasking is said to be detrimental to your health.  It is supposed to be better for us if we focus upon one job at a time and complete that task and then move onto the next job.

We now live in a fast-paced world and we can probably all cope quite well with multi-tasking.

Having more than one thing on the go at once can actually be beneficial to us.

If you are a writer then writing several books at the same time can be helpful.  You can leave one book, when you get stuck and then concentrate on one of your other books.  An artist could probably do the same, work on more than one painting at a time.  And I am sure there are many areas of people's lives where they would benefit from having more than one project going on at the same time.

I tend to do many things at once and feel I have accomplished something worthwhile when all the jobs are done.  For instance, I may let the washing up soak a bit, while I make a cup of tea and feed the dog.

There is nothing wrong with multi-tasking or working at one hundred miles an hour if you enjoy it and if it has a purpose.
